Effective: November 6, 2026
We check every fact against its source before a story runs. When we still get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so.
How to report a mistake
Send us a message through the Contact page. Please include:
- the story's address (link);
- what you believe is wrong;
- a source that shows the correct information, if you have one.
What we do next
- We read every report and check it against the sources the story is built on and any source you send.
- If we made a mistake, we correct the story as soon as we can.
- If the report is about a fact we got right, we keep the story as it is. We may reply to explain where the fact comes from.
How corrections are noted
- Corrections. When we fix a fact, a name, a number, a date or a quote, we add a note at the end of the story that says what was wrong and when we fixed it, for example: "Correction, Nov. 6, 2026: An earlier version of this story gave the wrong date for the hearing. It is Nov. 12."
- Updates. When news moves after a story runs and we add new information, we add a dated note that says what changed.
- Small fixes. Spelling, grammar and broken links are fixed without a note when they do not change the meaning.
